Can You Install an EcoCube™ Heat Pump through base entry? Here's What You Need to Know

Installing an EcoCube™ heat pump through the base of a spa via the conduit access point is a supported method and works well for deck setups. There are a few requirements you need to follow for the system to perform correctly.

What is a base entry heat pump installation?

In a standard EcoCube™ installation, the heat pump sits beside the spa with pipework running along the outside of the cabinet. In a base entry, the pipework and cabling come up from underneath the spa through the deck below. This is commonly used when a spa sits on a raised timber deck and the owner wants a cleaner look with no visible pipework on the outside.

Is this method supported for the EcoCube™?

Yes. The SpaNet^® tech packs confirm there is no issue with running cabling and pipework through the conduit access point. Always check the tech pack for your specific spa model to confirm the exact conduit location before work begins.

How far above or below the spa can the EcoCube™ be installed?

The EcoCube™ must be installed no more than 1 metre above or below the base of the spa. The greater the height difference, the harder the system works to move water, which can reduce flow and cause errors on the spa controller.

Does pipe run length matter?

Yes. The total length of pipework and the number of bends between the EcoCube™ and the spa's circulation pump can affect performance. Keep the pipe run as short and direct as possible, and use gradual curves rather than sharp bends.

If you are routing pipework through a deck, plan the pipe path before the deck is built — a long or winding run will reduce performance and increase the chance of flow issues.
